Ingredients

  • 2 small onions, sliced
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 egg
  • 1 packet onion soup mix
  • 1 packet lower sodium brown gravy mix
  • 1 cup low sodium chicken stock
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

Step 1: Put 1 tbsp oil into a large deep skillet and add in onions. Cook over medium low heat until onions are cooked through and translucent. Remove from pan and set aside.

Step 2: While onions are cooking, mix meat, egg, and onion soup mix together until just combined. Do not overmix. Form into 4 hamburger patties.

Step 3: After removing onions from pan, turn heat up to high. Add in the rest of the oil and then sear the patties about 1-2 minutes per side so they get a nice crust on them. Remove from pan and set aside.

Step 4: Lower heat to medium and put in gravy mix and slowly add in the chicken stock. Stir to combine while ensuring that you are getting the good bits from the bottom of the pan. Add back in the onions.

Step 4: Make a spot for each patty and place them back in and cover with the gravy mixture. Put the lid on and cook over medium low heat until the meat is fully cooked.

Step 5: Assemble! We ate ours with mashed potatoes and peas and carrots. Enjoy!!
